Future of the Program

Danny is working on an entirely new tab program that runs off the web that will be ready for use hopefully Fall 2011. You can view information about that program at: http://www.forensicstournament.net/everythingtab

I will be using 2.2 this fall (2010). I have tested it on Excel 2010 and have not seen any problems.

Unfortunately, my ability to make additional changes, add features, and to fix bugs is fairly limited. I will still try and hope to have a 2.3 in early January 2011. I would expect 2.3 to have minor changes.

What was added in 2.2

2.2 was posted Jan 4, 2010.

This list shows you features that have been added in the beta we are testing.

1. New, clearer message when you start a new tournament. It also tells users to SAVE AS so they don't use the zipped version of the program (which won't save their changes).

2. Bye Judges and Bye Rooms are now called "Judge TBA" and "Room TBA" to avoid students being confused into thinking they have a bye round.

3. Cume sheet appears better printed and when posted online.

4. Judges added to a MPJ division will now appear as 997 allowing accurate editing and allowing the user to know which judges are not truly constrained.

5. The tie breaker default settings have been reset to the traditional settings used at most tournaments.

6. The teams form has a small explanation that regional coding happens on the schools form.

7. Users are now notified that importing large tournament files from bruschke/ft.net may take a short while to load.

8. Quickstats now states Division number rather than just the number.

9. MPJ message explaining 1, 997 (need to set pref), 998 (constrained), and 999 (strike) now fully shows.

10. New, better, and more accurate explanation of what to do for help on the Start Page.

11. Export Pairings now fully works again (no split spreadsheets).

12. on this site, clearer instructions for downloading have been provided to avoid a few problems users had in downloading and using the program.

13. on the edit/view pairings and change judges forms, two big changes:
a. zoom. if you have a small screen, you can now zoom the form to fit.
b. two tabbed pages of info on each allowing you to see many more debates at once.

14. judges form now tells how many times a judge has judged.

15. judges and rooms form got tweaks to provide more info and more readability.

16. prefs now show correctly for all judges in elims on the edit/view pairings form.

17. warning note for entering byes now included.

18. clearer explanation in the log showing judge changes you made.

19. not enough judges for elims? the program will still pair without causing any errors. (you just need to manually change the "judges tba").

20. bug for cumes, team rankings, speaker rankings, when you enter b's for byes is now fixed.

21. some updated information to the help buttons (even if the help isn't super helpful; at least the help that is provided is now more accurate with changes we've made to the program).

22. information on the pairing form that helps you decide how many teams to break (based on no of teams competing or records of the teams).

23. warning about having too many ada rooms assigned now included.

 24. fixed division name for teams in the teams/judges debating/clearing.

 25. made elim ballot entry steps clearer.

What's new in 2.15

2.15 is now available, one day ahead of schedule.

1. fix for bug in printing elim ballots that occurred in some situations.

2. fix for calculation of speaker ranks if used as a tie breaker

3. cumes now show the top two tie breakers that you choose in the tournament settings.

4. the ampersand problem downloading from forensicstournament.net is now fixed.

5. for more printers, labels should now print correctly. we still recommend using ballots but hopefully this is better.

6. fix for error in showing sweepstakes results that occurs in some situations.

7. notification that if you add a team after round 1, you will need to manually pair that team in round 2 (or any odd numbered round).

8. notification that an import from forensicstournament.net is using the wrong names for types of debate (which will cause problems with cumes, speaker rankings, etc.).

9. made the import form larger for easier use.

10. quick change form, new "return to record results" button for clarity.

11. note indicating that sweeps save the settings.

12. note indicating you can change judges in the record ballots form.

13. made judge's name bold in the record ballots form.

14. adjusted info on the time blocks form from the record ballots form.
